About the maker
Lakrids by Bülow
Johan Bülow set out to show how much more licorice could be. He opened his first shop in Svaneke on the Danish island of Bornholm in 2007, making small batches for visitors who could smell the cooking from outside.
Lakrids by Bülow grew from that experiment into a playful confectionery brand, exploring sweet, salty, and chocolate-coated combinations. Its colorful jars make a distinctly Danish treat easy to share, gift, or save for a quiet moment.

“This was a great stop in Iowa! A small little town, with lots of Danish culture. This Danish windmill was brought over from Denmark in the 70's lots of history, as long as a Viking house, tiny church and the BEST gift shop.I spent most of my time here shopping. They have everything! Royal Copenhagen to Carlsburg øle!”

“A beautiful, authentic working Danish windmill. I learned not every windmill is the same. Lots of history to learn. Very cool to tour the inside and learn about how it was transported from Denmark. You can tour the inside the windmill and walk up a few floors even walk outside on the catwalk around the windmill. The grounds are well kept and feature a neat Viking house replica. A tiny church. A wooden troll and gnome home. A great gift shop full of Danish imports. I liked that the gift shop had a variety of pamphlets of other interesting things to do around the area.”
