An updated edition of Trine Hahnemann's award-winning book, in a modern format with brand-new recipes and photography. A collection of recipes from an effortlessly stylish city, interspersed with stories that set the culinary scene of the Danish capital. From the chic restaurants of Vesterbro to the buzzing streets of Nørrebro, eating in Copenhagen is quite unlike dining anywhere else in the world. Known for its innovation, the city’s calming vibe draws people from everywhere, and for good reason. Eat Copenhagen explores the feel and the taste of Copenhagen through the recipes – from early morning Cardamom Buns and Cinnamon Kringles to Christmassy Gløgg, Honey Bombs and Hot Chocolate, through smørrebrøds and Scandi-style salads for summer – and interwoven stories of the city – the cafés and konditori, the markets and restaurants – so you can enjoy a little moment of hygge from home. Text is extracted and updated from Copenhagen Food: Stories, Traditions and Recipes by Trine Hahnemann.

Danish Windmill · A shop with a story

Generic gnome

Mange Tak

“I love the hospitality of hygge you feel upon entering the Danish Windmill! A friendly staff, a thorough tour of the inner-workings of the windmill itself, and a shopping experience that has both traditional and modern Danish offerings — the Windmill appeals to all ages, and will have you saying, “Mange tak!” ”

Lots of History and Small Town Charm

“A beautiful, authentic working Danish windmill. I learned not every windmill is the same. Lots of history to learn. Very cool to tour the inside and learn about how it was transported from Denmark. You can tour the inside the windmill and walk up a few floors even walk outside on the catwalk around the windmill. The grounds are well kept and feature a neat Viking house replica. A tiny church. A wooden troll and gnome home. A great gift shop full of Danish imports. I liked that the gift shop had a variety of pamphlets of other interesting things to do around the area.”

The Little Winter Book of Gnomes

A cozy book of gnomes (and gnomes), just in time for the holidays Similar to the Norwegian nisser Kirsten grew up hearing about, gnomes have always fascinated her. When she realized that a “gnome” was also another word for a proverb, Kirsten brought the two together. The result is a charming collection of Scandinavian wisdom accented by whimsical illustrations. There are gnome women chopping wood (“chop your own wood and it will warm you twice”), men surreptitiously knitting (“two balls of yarn
