It all started with a backpacking trip to Nepal in 2001. The plan was to continue eastwards, but our interest and love for this amazing country made us stay. We saw how the Nepalese people were living. We wanted to combine simple Danish design with this amazing raw and rustic fabric and the idea of “Gry & Sif” was born. All Gry & Sif products are handmade, so there is only “one” of each, as there will always be small differences on each product. Gry & Sif is Danish design, but all handmade in Nepal by very skilled workers. All products are made from pure natural wool from New Zealand. In 2009 Gry & Sif received Fair Trade certification from the World Fair Trade Organization. The Nepalese people are smiling, open-minded and very friendly.
About the maker
Gry & Sif began when sisters Gry and Sif encountered Nepal's traditional felt craft during a journey in 2001. They saw a chance to pair the skill of local makers with the simple, imaginative forms of Scandinavian design.
Today, the brand's flowers, animals, and seasonal decorations are designed in Denmark and made by hand in Nepal. The soft wool and small variations that come with handwork give each piece a warmth that suits a holiday tree, a table, or a year-round corner of the home.
